Jericho Student Named Finalist In Poetry Contest

Grace Hu of Muttontown has had her poem entitled, “Trials of Justice” selected as a finalist in the 19th annual National High School Poetry Contest sponsored by the Live Poets Society of NJ and JUST POETRY!!!, the National High School Poetry Quarterly. More than 15,000 entries are received each year. These generally include entries from all fifty states, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, US Military installations around the world, and from students of US Embassy and missionary families in all corners of the world. Hu’s poem was one of only 20 national winners selected from those received this past quarter and was published in the spring issue of JUST POETRY!!! Hu attends Jericho High School under the tutelage of language arts instructors Nadine Bowler and Walter Kirby. She has achieved early acceptance into MIT and plans to study materials science and biomedical engineering.
